The Kensington Square concept was the original idea of Renaissance Housing Corporation, known for its luxurious estate homes in Oakton and Great Falls, Virginia. The architect of the unique townhouse design was the well known Chris Lessard who has an office in Vienna, Virginia and still lists the Kensington Square project on his website. Building of the community started in 2002 and it was advertised as a low maintenance manor in Fair Oaks, named for London’s prestigious Kensington Square neighborhood. When completed the community would consist of three sections known as Kensington Square, Kensington Parc and Kensington Manor; all three sections were designed to be part of one larger homeowner association known as Kensington Square HOA. Renaissance finished over half of the Kensington Square homes before being purchased by WCI in 2005. WCI completed Kensington Square and started on Kensington Parc before experiencing financial difficulties, which forced a halt to construction activity. It took a couple of years for the local housing market to stabilize such that NV Homes, in partnership with H2 Land, could complete construction of Kensington Parc and build the single family homes and manor townhomes in Kensington Manor. There are now a total of 244 residences on 55 acres consisting of 64 being single-family homes, 156 manor townhomes, and 25 ADU residences. It is a community of manicured grounds and floral gardens in a park-like neighborhood near major roads and public transportation, with excellent medical facilities, schools and great restaurants and shopping all within walking distance. If you are looking for a place to call home, this may be it.
