The Communications Committee (CC) has three members: Shannon Tully, Carol LeBlanc and Joel McClung. The CC has not met in person; all business has been coordinated via email.
Documentation
Joel shared login credentials for all computer accounts owned by the HOA with Rich Williamson, Mike Glassman, Alan Zusman & Ashley Gonzalez. This protects the HOA should something happen to him.
Web site
The CC manages the HOA’s current web site http://www.kensingtonhomeowners.com, paid until March 2025, and the new website https://www.KensingtonSquareHOA.com, paid until July 2023, both hosted by GoDaddy. The CC voted for a different theme (layout) for the web site, so we implemented that new theme.
Accomplishments:
- New web site announced to residents on August 7 along with Pickleball survey.
- Put a header on existing web site telling visitors that the site is being retired.
- Basketball court gate access form has been configured. A process has been defined for the SMC to follow to make sure we are all in sync and the resident gets the gate code.
- Continuing to copy over documents, notes, etc from old site.

- Security issue: I noticed that you don’t have to be a member or logged in to read our posts. I changed that.
- I added all the upcoming HOA meetings to the calendar for the rest of the year. For the July meeting, I set it to alert 24 hours before the meeting and again 10 minutes before, hoping this would increase attendance – it didn’t. We did get one unsubscribe – not sure if it is correlated. I’m going to leave with 2 reminders until I get some feedback otherwise.
- A resident suggested adding the days the grass is being mowed to the calendar so they can schedule WFH meetings around all the noise. The lawn cutting dates are not published by Creative Landscaping so we cannot accommodate that request.
- There are 10 accounts that are disabled and I plan to delete them after recording information about them.
- Annual bill of $220.00 due on Oct 26, 2022. Should we use new HOA credit card?
Statistics:
- 41 posts in August, 7 so far in September
- Currently have 286 mailing addresses.
- 3 left
- 2 households (4 addresses) added – husband & wife each added their own address.
I’m not seeing a compelling need at this point. I reposted two things:
- VA Sales Tax Holiday which ran from Aug 5-7
- FairfaxNow article talking about trash pickup problems across the county
